- Essentialism > Plato & Aristotle
- Nihilism > Friedrich Nietzsche

- Existentialism is NOT Athiesm, although many Atheists adhere to Existential philosophy
- Kierkegaard is a Theist, who believes in the existence of a god or gods
DEFINITIONS
- Existentialism — A form of philosophical inquiry that explores the nature of existence by emphasizing experience of the human subject—not merely the thinking subject, but the acting, feeling, living human individual.
- Essentialism — a belief that things have a set of characteristics which make them what they are, and that the task of science and philosophy is their discovery and expression; the doctrine that essence is prior to existence
- Theist — a person who believes in the existence of a god or gods, specifically of a creator who intervenes in the universe
- Atheist — a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods
- Nihilism — the rejection of all religious and moral principles, in the belief that life is meaningless.
