Roma Van Der Walt is also the founder of Vitelle, a women’s metabolic health and longevity start-up focused on female bodies. She is an wife, mother of 2, dogmom, edu-creator, inspirational speaker, podcaster, advocate, entrepreneur, storyteller and scholar who embraces a multi-cultural and equity mindset with a strong commitment in creating equitable opportunities for Women of Color in Business, Housing & Academia. Rodriguez received her Bachelor’s degree in Latino/a Studies from San Francisco State University and went on to receive her Master’s degree (MBA) with an emphasis in Marketing at Notre Dame de Namur University. She is currently pursing her doctorate in Education from Mills College and provides 15+ years of marketing and housing experience in the San Francisco Bay Area. A lot of us want to become financially independent from our parents. Becoming financially stable can be hard when you have grown up in poverty and/or have not not yet healed your money wounds. Many of us may have grown up seeing our immigrant mothers and other female role models struggle with having a financial voice. As adults we may now be trying to become financially literate but we still get stressed easily because we may not have the knowledge that our white counterparts have when it comes to finances. We all want to be financially free but for daughters of immigrants, money can often cause us a lot of stress. When womxn of color earn 55 cents to the dollar a white man earns, it is time that we learn how to find our financial voice. So how do we do this?
