Losing your Hunger and Appetite After Experiencing Trauma

Happy Satiated Saturday!
I really got to see my nervous system in action this past week. I spilled a whole bowl of soup onto myself, the couch, the floor, and into my computer.
My body went into a freeze response, which took about 24 hours to come out of. During that time, I had very little appetite and it made me reflect on other times of my life where the trauma response felt so big in my body that it felt incredibly difficult to eat.
I've been in more conversations with others lately about their lack of appetite. They only realize that they're hungry when their body screams at them at the end of the day that it needs food now! Have you experienced this? You might be wondering, why does your hunger disappear?
In this week’s episode, I explain the link between trauma and a lack of appetite and hunger cues. I share my story about what of happened this past week and what occurred in my body in the face of something that felt highly threatening and what could be happening in your body if you're living in a trauma response and have a difficult time feeling hungry.
