Sleep can certainly be elusive in this phase of life. Whether it be difficulty falling asleep or difficulty staying asleep, most of us have struggled with our sleep at one point or another. So, in this episode of The Life After Kids Podcast, we’re discuss the importance of the "golden hour" before sleep, how it can impact your subconscious mind, help you sleep better, and improve the start of your day the next morning. The golden hour is the last hour to hour and a half before bed, and during this time you should be intentional about what you focus on or put your energy into. Whatever you do during the last hour before bed time can have a positive impact on your subconscious mind while you sleep, prepping you for a productive start to your morning. Plus, the last things you do before bed can improve your quality of sleep.

Here are a few highlights from today’s episode:

Jot down three wins from the day and three wins that you expect to complete the following day during the golden hour. This helps to reflect on the day and prioritize tasks for the next day.

Try taking a warm bath with Epsom salts before bed to relax you and reduce muscle tension

Establish a bedtime routine that includes turning off electronics, dimming the lights, and avoiding blue light from phones or laptops, as it can disturb your deep sleep for 90 minutes.

Don’t watch anything high drama or high intensity before bed, as it can fire you up and sabotage your sleep. Instead, choose something light and positive that sets the tone for a good night's sleep.

Create a dark environment in your bedroom, either by using night shades or wearing a sleep mask, to promote a deeper sleep
