The Importance of Art in Expressing Feelings: "It's something that everybody needs, especially at this time, to sort of put your feelings somewhere."
— Rhonda Nolan

On this episode of Lessons From The Core, we invite guest Rhonda Nolan, an established Canadian contemporary artist to discuss her passion for expressive arts, and how it has led her to create a beautiful gallery in Bloomfield, Ontario.

She offers workshops in Prince Edward County & retreats in Morocco.
Rhonda Nolan is an established Canadian contemporary, mixed media artist who has her studio/gallery in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada.
Rhonda’s raw, graphic, markmaking is strongly influenced by expressive street art, her love of texture, and her enduring curiosity for creating in all dimensions. For many years, she co-ordinated an art program for inner city homeless people, to which she attributes her love of expressive art.
Rhonda comes from a textural background of papermaking and book arts. Her work has been sold nationally and internationally over the years. She is continuously asked to create site-specific installations on meaningful subjects to publicly share.
She also loves to share her process of creation believing that this is a wonderful way for all to learn to live a healthier and happier life.

She is passionate about creating art all around her property using recycled materials and loves exploring new media to push her creativity in different directions. Her personal expression is evident in all her creations, and she continues to make her mark in the art world.

Here are three key takeaways from our conversation:

- Rhonda's journey to becoming an artist is a testament to the power of following your passions and pursuing what brings you joy. From building things with cardboard as a child to making handmade paper greeting cards with her children and starting a successful line of greeting cards, Rhonda's creative evolution is inspiring.

- Prince Edward County is a vibrant community with a strong arts scene, and Rhonda's gallery and studio are beautiful representations of this. Whether you're interested in a workshop to learn more about expressive arts or want to appreciate the artwork on display, Rhonda's space is a must-visit.

- The power of art to help us process our emotions and find comfort during difficult times is something that Rhonda deeply believes in. Whether you're an experienced artist or have never picked up a paintbrush in your life, tapping into your creativity can be an incredibly therapeutic experience.

Learn about the expressive art workshops in Morocco in person at the gallery:
14 Duncan Street, Bloomfield, Ontario on Wednesday, June 28 at 7 pm EST.

- One of the highlights of the trip is spending three days in the Sahara desert painting on large pieces of cloth with big brushes and free expression.
