In today’s episode, Kara Martin guides us through the last of four distortions that impact on our understanding of how our faith links with our work.
The fourth distortion is that God only values our paid work. Kara examines the hierarchy of value we live within and how we choose to ascribe value to different kinds of work. She challenges us to redefine work as “anything we do with intent and purpose,” and she reflects on the many different ways we contribute through all areas of our life. She also considers the relationship between volunteering and the Church and how her status in the Church changed when she went from being a person with a full-time paid job to becoming a mother as her primary role. How do we choose to affirm people and what judgements do we make of them based on their income and employed position?
