The David Spoon Experience

A) In this passage, there is a twist. Paul lists these things by the influence of the Holy Spirit, making mention that these people can ALSO enter the doors of the church. So, be aware of these evil characteristics. They are the fruit of false teachers, and of their followers. The outward looks good, but the inward is evil.
B) David speaks of the compounding effect of persistent sin. He distinguishes between sin’s penalty and its power. Yielding to sin is a conscious choice to reject the fullness of Christ’s power, leading to a gradual distortion of our spiritual integrity. While salvation is assured, its benefits are not fully realized if we let sin dominate. Despite feelings of helplessness, we must remember the empowering presence of Christ within us.
