Acknowledging scary thoughts

Some thoughts are so awful that I find myself not wanting to acknowledge them for fear that they might be true. I don't want to deal with the horrible thought. Upon further inspection, it has never happened that a horribly scary thought has actually turned out to be accurate. By accepting the existence of the scary thought, I release the energy. I was expending to deny its existence and now have that energy to constructively apply as I choose.
