How to Perform Effective Goal Setting with Gary Gaffney from GR8 Leaders

Gary Gaffney from GR8 Leaders joined us to talk about Goal Planning as we start the new year of 2024. Gary has over a decade of leadership training experience and talks about his passion for this field and how he established his career in helping others. He talked about why many plans fail and how to ensure to achieve goals. In this show, you will learn about the “There”, “Here”, “Path” strategy to achieving goals. We further discuss things ranging from how great leaders perform to fantastic leadership books.

Some show highlights:

-He got into the field of leadership training when he discovered a personal passion for leadership and decided to share it with others

-Early in his career he got involved with John Maxwell leadership training and now uses the GR8 leaders initiatives

-He recommended a couple of great books – The Go Giver, which speaks about a giving nature being a key to sales and other success, and The One Thing, which speaks about focus for efficiency and effectiveness

-For charity, among other initiatives, he works with Rotary and recently the group helped get over 250 kids in need presents for Christmas

-Gary explains why most goals fail because people don’t formulate a plan (only a desire)

-Specifically we talked about how New Year’s Resolutions usually only contain a spoken or mental concept of accomplishing something (for example, losing weight) but no written goal, time frame or action plan

-Goals must have an “acceptable” outcome for yourself and a time frame as core elements of seeing the goal through to success

-Learn about the There, Here, Path program to meeting your goals: 1) Start with “There” which is where you want to be, 2) Then analyze “Here” which is where you currently are, then move to the “Path” which is the process to closing the gap between two places.
