The Feast of St. Lucia is connected with Christmas traditions in several cultures, especially in Sweden. The real saint, though, is no more legend or tradition - Lucy's story is gritty, painful, and also amazingly powerful. She illustrates the way that the light and truth of Christ empower us to live pure lives of self-giving and love in the brutal world.
