Part 4: A Steward is Mission Focused

Last slide – My Mission

1) Jesus was MISSION FOCUSED.

26If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him. 27"Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? But for this purpose I have come to this hour." (John 12:26–27, ESV)

"34Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work." (John 4:34, ESV)

"38For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me." (John 6:38, ESV)

2) What is my Mission from GOD?

"19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."" (Matthew 28:19–20, ESV)

Two Major Directions

· Outward – "Make Disciples" - OUTREACH.

"10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."" (Luke 19:10, ESV)

· Inward – "Teaching them to Obey" - CHRISTLIKENESS.

"17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." (Ephesians 3:17–19, ESV)

"13until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ," (Ephesians 4:13–15, ESV)

3) How can I do this?

· Put God's TRUTH before everything!

"37Then Pilate said to him, "So you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice."" (John 18:37, ESV)

· Let God make you an INFLUENCER for Jesus.

"49And he said to them, "Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"" (Luke 2:49, ESV)

· Passionately pursue PERSONAL Christlikeness.

"12Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you." (Philippians 3:12–15, ESV)

· COMMIT to sharing the Gospel in everyway way possible.

"18"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."" (Luke 4:18–19, ESV)
