Some say the Biblical book, Song of Solomon, is meant to paint a picture of the love between God and His people, while others say it's about the romantic love between a husband and wife. But it isn’t either / or. Nothing in Scripture is one dimensional, so passages in the Bible often have both an obvious meaning, as well as a deeper symbolic meaning; and that’s exactly what is happening with Song of Solomon. There are definite passages in the book that point us to the relationship between God and His people, or Jesus and the church, but it also shows us what a good, godly marriage between a man and a woman is meant to look like – it’s meant be sexually intimate and even romantic. In fact, God is encouraging it!
