This is the first episode of a series I've decided to write. It follows the narrative of "Thoughts," an astronaut commander of a ship SW949, aka "Shaun." This particular episode was inspired of a close friend and girlfriend at the time - when we were navigating some relationship problems and needed to take "space." And, almost always when in any relationship, conflict happens, and often creating space is necessary for wounds to heal. There is often a fear impressed into people when space is required; whether that is to be the one to ask for it, set the tone, or to be aware space is needed. Many people don't know how to respect boundaries when they lack boundaries of their own. We had agreed to take space, so both of us could take time to self reflect on some of the junk we were putting on each other. So, in my space, this idea came to mind and Commander Thoughts was born. We shared stories we wrote in our own space (she was an excellent writer with brilliant creativity.) I shared this with her. She absolutely loved it and thought it would be a great idea to publish. I was hesitant, but the idea of publishing it was confirmed again by my niece when I read it to her. The series won't always focus on relationships, but, rather more so just "connecting dots" and sharing my own personal views and learnings read by me in the form of a creative, dialectical narrative. In my eyes, we are "all" astronauts. We often identify with our "thoughts", and we command our vessels (our body.) When we take a moment to not identify with certain thoughts, we step outside ourselves (space) and see things from a different perspective as the Observer (astronaut.) And stepping into this "Observer" is what allows us to sometimes see things with more clarity, or can sometimes teach us very powerful lessons and insights about ourselves and others (the dots.) It can sometimes teach us how we react and respond to others, and how to navigate the ship differently. In this way, we are all Astronauts. And as Astronauts, we all struggle in ways but also can thrive on assimilating new information when we really think about it and "take command" of our ship. In this series, Commander Thoughts is an astronaut who decided to create logs to express himself using a form of journaling, to cope with the pressures of life and his job as "an astronaut." Thoughts often remarks to American pop culture, various sciences, psychology, friendships and relationships, his own reflections, and observations he's made about the world back home. Thank you for taking the time to listen and I hope you as listener, (observer) enjoy! Much love. And thank you "Bex."
