However, a closer examination reveals a different truth - one that showcases God's immense love and care for His people, even in the midst of what may seem like strict regulations. The passage from Leviticus 25:35-38 provides a beautiful example of God's heart for the poor and vulnerable: "Take thou no usury of him, or increase: but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee. Thou shalt not give him thy money upon usury, nor lend him thy victuals for increase. I am the Lord your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God." - Leviticus 25:36-38 (KJV) Here, we see God instructing His people to care for their brethren who have fallen on hard times. They are commanded not to take advantage of the poor, but to help them without expecting profit. This law reflects God's compassion and His desire for His people to mirror His own loving nature.
