I am interested in cults. It’s like a hobby. I adopt one, learn something about it, and then go on to the next. But why are cults allowed to operate (consider the crimes committed against minors by the JWs, or the fact that the Scientologists lock people up and subject them to hard labour).

I think I have the answer: because cults collect lots of data on their members. And this data is shared with the big cult. Because what they are doing today to the Scientologists they will be doing tomorrow to you.
