A Hard Winter Training
Manage episode 438872802 series 3439095
In this episode of Navigate the Day, we’re diving into the concept of “hard winter training” from the wisdom of Epictetus. Just like athletes who undergo rigorous preparation during the off-season, we too must prepare ourselves for life’s inevitable challenges. Epictetus reminds us that true growth comes from discipline, resilience, and preparation—building mental and emotional strength for those tough moments.
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on my own readiness, or lack thereof. I’ve been struggling with letting go and adapting to life’s twists, especially in the aftermath of a difficult breakup. These past few months have taught me that preparation is more than just checking off tasks; it’s about building a mindset that can weather the storm. I’m learning that while I meditate and reflect each morning, it’s not always enough to build the resilience I need for life’s harder days.
In this episode, I’ll share how I’m trying to embrace the idea of training myself for life’s ups and downs—whether it’s through meditation, managing emotions, or staying disciplined, even when I feel unmotivated. The truth is, I’m still figuring it out, and I hope that by sharing these struggles, it resonates with you too. Together, we’ll explore how to prepare for the storms life throws our way with grit, fortitude, and the wisdom of the Stoics.
Let’s get ready for life’s hard winter together!
Thank you for listening and joining me on my journey of self-discovery!
