Kristina Coccoluto, a breast and ovarian health advocate and inspirational speaker, joins Jenny, Katie, and Mandy to share her story. Kristina was born with the BRCA1 mutation, leaving her with an 87% lifetime risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer and a 60% risk of being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Not wanting to live in fear, she decided to have a risk-reducing double mastectomy 4 days after her 30th birthday, and at 36 years old, she had a complete-hysterectomy. Kristina used training for marathons as a distraction and has worked for over a decade raising funds and awareness for the cancer community.
Not only is Kristina a previvor, she is also a wife, mom of 3, melanoma survivor, and a 3 star World Major Marathoner working toward the Abbott Medal. Kristina shares so much advice on being brave enough to choose yourself and how she has found her life's purpose through sharing her own story.
