I have the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Geoff Abbott. He is from Burke, Virginia in the United States and is currently a Leadership Instructor, writer, presenter, speaker, and retired U.S Coast Guard captain. He was a coast guard for 30 years prior to that with exceptional knowledge and experience. He held two commands, led the Performance Excellence Program, chaired the Commandant’s Innovation Council and deployed for Hurricane Katrina. to which now has led him in becoming a professor within leadership.
Dr. Abbott has earned a Doctorate in Business Administration, a Professional Ocean Engineer and Masters of Science (Ocean Engineering) degrees from MIT, and has a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Geoff is a founding member of MIT's Military Alumni Association and served on their first Board of Directors.
Geoff is passionate about helping people be more effective contributors to a better world. He has led several workshops, given presentations and authored articles on leading change and leading 'from the middle'. On his own time he has completed the manuscript of his first book "Unauthorized Progress - Stories, Strategies and Tools to Lead 'from the Middle' to Make an Extraordinary Impact" which highlights inspirational stories and strategies of 'ordinary people' achieving extraordinary results.
It was an honour and pleasure to interview Geoff Abbott on my podcast as he has so many beautiful stories to share that you don't need to be at the top in order to be a leader. He explains ways on how to be a better leader in the workplace and take initiative for yourself to be a better individual. Mr. Abbott has a huge heart with lots of wisdom and it was an honour to interview him on my podcast!
