What can I say? One of my biggest influences, mentors, and a pinnacle of his field is a guest of mine on my podcast? What a moment :)Not for the faint of heart, this episode encompasses the no B.S. approach I wanted when I started this show. So much I even get caught up in the moment. I knew Derek Roddy would be one to give it to me straight. He doesn't disappoint in this nearly 60 minute conversation covering the following:-His recent projects including Nader Sadek accompanied by the prowess of Jim Ross and "Nile's" own Karl Sanders-The evolution of extreme metal then and now. Why adapting is crucial-The importance of developing your own "style" and why that's important-Drumming is 90% mental. There's a simple reason why-Why you SHOULDN'T go to NAMM-Why guitar players shouldn't write drum parts-What is your chance of making it? These few things will direct your focus Please check out www.derekroddy.com for more current updates and killer music
