22.18 The Who, What, and Why of Scripture - Redemption (Part 2)

In this second installment of the Smiths series on the doctrine of Redemption, Craig and LaDonna present an abundance of Scripture that speaks directly to us on what that doctrinally powerful word really means. After rehearsing both Old and New Testament passages, the singular focus of that term comes clearly into view as Craig asks LaDonna a critically important question. He asks, do you see anything in any of these verses that point to the work of Redemption being towards any fallen human culture, or is is solely focused on the work of Redemption in the life of the individual? Of course, there's nothing biblically that supports the concept promoted by the Redeeming of Culture movement that its all about culture. They are free to make that case, but after careful review of God's Word, even they should be able to acknowledge that their doctrine and philosophy is based not on the timeless truths of God's word, but mere human philosophy. Yes, biblical passages are quoted as proof texts, but those verses real and original meanings have been changed because the filter used to interpret those passages is a cultural filter, and not the time tested historical-grammatical interpretation. The real problem with a cultural interpretation of Scripture is that it leads to relative, culturally specific interpretations. That leads to universal truth being jettisoned in favor of a truth that only works for each culture, as they define it. Relative truth is no truth at all, and it leads one very quickly down the slippery slope into Universalism, which means all roads lead to heaven. Contrast that with Christ's own words where He unequivocally states, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father but by me! I think you can see where this teaching is going, and where it is leading many Indigenous followers of Christ and those who serve among them to walk away from biblical truth and embracing teaching that is contrary to God's Holy Word! These are not minor issues, dear friend. We need to take them very seriously before choosing to follow roads that do not lead to the Lord, nor His eternal paradise. So let's stay committed to the timeless truths of God's Word as the one and only basis for our Indigenous Faith!
