Welcome to the second episode of the Decoding DevOps series with the host, Brett Keown, and his special guest Colin Dembovsky, Field Solution Engineer at GitHub. Today, we are jumping into the practical side of DevOps. It will be about giving the top talent room to be efficient at work and promoting automation that brings better value for the client, increased flow, and higher morale. In the episode, Colin also explains how companies can benefit from the integration with GitHub Actions and how it can help reduce the number of tools and, consequently, their maintenance costs. A DevOps journey has many legs, and this episode is only our second stop. Stay tuned for more parts to come. About Colin: Colin Dembovsky is a GitHub Solution Engineer. He is a self-proclaimed DevOpsologist and has been an ALM MVP since 2011. He is based in Spring, TX but remains proudly South African! After completing an MSc in Computer Science at Rhodes University , he worked as a developer and later systems architect, implementing DevOps “by feel” and in the trenches. In 2010, he left development to start consulting, using his experience, insight and strategic thinking to help organizations put DevOps into practice. By 2019, Colin was leading a DevOps practice and joined GitHub in 2021. Colin is passionate about helping teams improve the quality of their software, and do it more efficiently and securely. Colin is a frequent guest speaker and regularly blogs at http://colinsalmcorner.com and can be found on twitter at @colindembovsky and on GitHub.com/colindembovsky . Welcome to the first episode of Decoding DevOps, a podcast hosted by Brett Keown and Daniel Krzyczkowski.
We’ve heard a lot of myths about DevOps, e.g. it’s a special team or it’s necessary for start-ups only. So, in this episode, we decided to shed light on the essence of DevOps and answer the most mind-boggling questions about it.
Together with our guest, Tomasz Onyszko, we have discussed what DevOps is to each of us and what value it delivers to customers and organizations. Also, we explained how to learn together with DevOps and listed the possible challenges of DevOps transformation in a company.
With this podcast, we enter the series of discussions about DevOps as a whole, as a journey. And we invite you to be part of it.
