After our last episode on God's work is entirely for us setting the tone, we jump into this episode talking about the beliefs of penal substitution that typically come in the forms of either "The Father abandoned Jesus" or "The Father poured out His wrath on Jesus." This is a very sad heresy that have radical negative consequences on our view of the Trinity, the Father, humanity, sin (and the penalty for it), justice, Jesus's incarnation and redemption and God's plan for us. In this episode, we talk about the issues and effects of this belief, the Catholic view, and then go through the arguments for the Father abandoning Jesus or pouring out His wrath on Jesus, then look at the very clear teaching of Jesus and scripture about suffering, the Father always being with Jesus, and the Father always being with us because WE ARE IN JESUS and HE IN US.
