On March 8, Marjorie Edwina Pitter King was born.

In 1944 she established a successful tax business called M and M Tax and Consultant Services. King was extremely active in politics, and was appointed to the State Legislature in 1965, becoming the first African American in the legislative body.

She operated her tax business for nearly 50 years.
