Welcome to Episode 8 of Tigers on Tap. In this episode, TJ and Trey break down the Week One loss to Mississippi State and preview the Week Two matchup against AAC conference foe, Navy. The Tigers and Midshipmen have played each other 7 times since 2015, and the Tigers hold a slim 4-3 advantage. This game has been mostly dominated by the home team, so the Tigers are looking to go on the road and buck the trend of the Memphis/Navy matchup.

In segment one, TJ and Trey break down the frustrating 49-23 loss to Mississippi State. TJ and Trey start off the segment with formal apologies. TJ apologizes to Jeyvon Ducker for the false claims about Jeyvon's speed. Clearly, after Jeyvon's 50-yard TD run against State, that proclamation by TJ was proven false. Trey formally apologized for the weather delay. In a selfish move by Trey, he asked for the weather delay so they could watch the game without kid interference while on vacation. The 2.5 hour weather delay was clearly Trey's fault, and he definitely needed to apologize.

TJ and Trey break down the good, bad and ugly of the State game. The ugly parts of the game for the guys was the offense. The first half felt completely flat and was quite frustrating for Tiger fans. To sum up the ineptitude in the first half, the Tigers had 29 total yards to end the half while State put 28 points on the board. The bad part of the game was the tackling on defense and the dropped passes by receivers. The Tigers' receivers dropped at least 6 balls and completely killed any momentum the Tigers' offense might have created. The missed tackles were unlike anything Tiger fans have seen in a long time. State ended the game with over 230 yards after catch. The good parts for the Tigers was the special teams and the grit that the Tigers showed in the second half. Memphis matched State point for point in the second half against all 2-deep defenders for State.

In segment two, TJ and Trey preview the matchup against the Naval Academy. This game could not be more important for both teams. Navy started their season with a loss to FBS opponent Delaware. TJ believes that the Tigers are going to come out quickly and try to score as many points as possible quickly to put the game away. Both guys are interested in seeing the adjustments made by Matt Barnes with the defensive line. Senior DE Jaylon Allen had a fantastic game against Mississippi State, but they believe the Tigers will unveil a beefier defensive line with Zy Brockington, Wardalis Ducksworth, Cam Jackson, and Cormontae Hamilton to stop the triple option read offense that Navy is so famous for. The matchup to look out for this game will be the Tigers' receivers against the Navy secondary. Against Delaware, Navy's secondary did not look good, so the guys think the more talented, bigger receivers that Memphis has should be very successful.

Trey and TJ end the episode with score predictions. TJ thinks Memphis will win 35-21, Memphis, and Trey believes Memphis will win 38-13.
