Episode 12 drops today! Looking back at the date of April 21st throughout sports history, this one is a dandy. We've got stories about Bill Barilko, MLB coming to both Minnesota and Dallas/Ft. Worth, the 1987 Brewers tying a record winning streak to start a season, Hakeem setting records for blocks, Stockton and Jordan setting record streaks on the same day, and the Dallas Cowboys starting their 90's dynasty with the first overall pick of the draft. Plus bits on Eddie Murray, the Phoenix Coyotes, Tony Danza and Vinny Lecavalier and more. For this week's DORK DRAFT (TM), we chose records from four major leagues (NHL, NBA, MLB, NFL) that we thought were unbreakable and asked legendary New York sportswriter Ken Davidoff to judge which of us chose best. Ken was the Yankees beat writer for the New York Post for a decade and has appeared on CNN, ESPN and the MLB Network. Some of the records we chose and debated:
- Jerry Rice's 22,895 career receiving yards.
- Bill Mosienko's 3 goals in 21 seconds.
- Wayne Gretzky's 215 points in a season.
-Cal Ripken's 2,632 consecutive games played.
...and many more. Tune in and have a listen to see which records Ken chose as the most untouchable. Let us know which ones you think we missed or which ones you think should won the draft on Instagram @thisdayinsports8. It's all there for you.
