In other local news, The first female commissioner of the Fire Department of New York, Laura Kavanaugh, said Saturday that she plans to step down because it’s time to “pass the torch” after two years in the job. And in Washington, President Biden urged the nation to unite in a rare Oval Office address – a day after a gunman tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania campaign rally.
