Episode 40: Inequitably Policing the Black Body
Manage episode 313560957 series 3200249
On this episode we dissect the degree of coloniality that is entrenched within the mind of the black police officer. From the perspective of apartheid South Africa where white police officers were known to terrorise black students and communities, we interrogate why this terrorisation has continued into our democracy with the exception that it is now black police officers who are perpetuating brutality onto the black body.
We are joined by the Head of Psychology at the South African Police Service, Brigadier Petunia Lenono, who walks us through the psyche of a police officer.
