#95: TED RITZER, the man who first introduced me to Zoom
Manage episode 320775234 series 2879820
Welcome to episode #95 of The Economy of Well-being Podcast; conversations that matter to our well-being.
Today I'm joined by a good friend Ted Ritzer, a former civil servant with the Government of Alberta (where I also spent 13 years as an economist) to talk about his many creative ideas for making the best of new technologies that can contribute to a better life and a lower carbon footprint.
Several years ago Ted had an idea for 'greening government' by using a new platform called Zoom. His idea was that the heavy carbon footprint of meetings and travel could be reduced saving both time and the planet. Ted helped launch the Green Government series to profile people of interest, including myself, to speak publicly about their ideas.
Ted was and still is ahead of his time when it comes to technology and its practical uses.
He speaks to me today from his home in Edmonton on a variety of subjects of interest including things like 'technology is not enough to save our planet', 'what are the opportunities for curatorial publishing', and 'why are we still not prepared for extreme weather events.'
Enjoy the conversation.
