In this second part of the discussion about nuclear waste storage with Jarkko Stenfors from Posiva , we are discussing how the copper canisters containing the waste are treated and store in the long term. Also some explanation on what experiments and testing have been done to ensure the safety of the storage for hundreds of years. And finally we go into future scenario to hypothesize what could happen to the storage site when all the people that build it are not around anymore, what precaution need to be employed to keep it safe in the unforeseen future. In this episode we are finally starting the Microfabrication series, sorry that took so long to get this done.
In the introduction we are trying to define what Microfabrication is, where and why we need to use it and the concept of miniaturization. We also explain the fundamental building block needed for the basic fabrication that will then be expanded one by one in dedicated episodes.
