Welcome to The Daily Quote – a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern for November 14th.

Now, November 14th is LULU Day, which might sound like the name of the latest plush stuffy toy, but it actually stands for Loosen Up, Lighten Up Day! LULU Day is all about taking a step back, breathing a little deeper, and maybe…just maybe…not taking things so seriously. Think of it as a day for letting go of the little things that weigh us down – those nagging worries or moments we replay on loop in our heads. Today is all about giving yourself permission to relax and laugh at life a little bit more.

To help us embrace the spirit of LULU Day, here’s today’s quote from the ever-chill Mark Twain:

"Wrinkles should merely indicate where smiles have been.”

Twain, with his typical wit, gives us a great reminder here: life is better when we’ve got a few laugh lines to show for it. Imagine a world where every line on your face was proof of something good, like laughter shared with friends, or maybe that one hilarious time you tripped over your own feet at a wedding. Those wrinkles are marks of a life well-lived – and a life where you’ve let yourself laugh and enjoy things, even the silly or embarrassing moments.

There’s wisdom in loosening up, even on the tougher days. By letting yourself laugh, or smile, or shake things off, you’re embracing the fullness of life – messiness and all. Today, don’t be afraid to take a break from overthinking or overdoing. Remember, the wrinkles we might end up with along the way? They’re just proof that we knew how to find joy in the journey.

So, as you head into the day, maybe take a page out of Twain's book. Smile a little more. Laugh a little more. And when things go sideways – which they sometimes do – think of it as an opportunity to create one more wrinkle for the road.
