The plaintiff says the defendant is his younger brother. He alleges the defendant stole a valuable Marc Chagall painting from their father that the plaintiff was supposed to sell. He’s suing for $5,000 for the theft. The defendant says he and his brother haven’t had a relationship in 30 years. He says the painting is a fake and is worth nothing.
The plaintiff says he rented an uninhabitable apartment from the sketchy defendant, and he can’t get his money back, so he’s suing. The defendant says he installed new appliances and the plaintiff walked away and broke the lease. He’s countersuing for rent owed.
The plaintiff says she’s an author who rented a party space for her novel’s prerelease event. She accidentally paid for it twice and the defendant refuses to return the money, so she’s suing. The defendant claims the plaintiff didn’t meet the food and bar minimum, and the plaintiff actually owes her.
