Lia Montelongo is a group fitness instructor and yoga teacher who has dedicated her life to fitness. She joins us on the ProFitness Podcast to share her story and lessons learned along the way.

Born and raised in Merrionette Park, a small town on the south side of Chicago, Lia was raised by a single mother and was a latchkey kid, coming home and taking care of herself at the young age of 9.

Growing up in an area with limited opportunities for dance and after-school programs, Lia taught herself how to dance in the garage, eventually choreographing her first performance for the Mount Greenwood Colts cheerleading team at the age of 14.

Lia’s fitness journey began when she was 17 years old and working as a group fitness instructor. Her journey started in a bar where she was dancing in a dance contest, and met her future boyfriend, Brian, who was a bodybuilder. He taught Lia everything he knew about fitness, and she soon fell in love with the way it made her feel, physically and emotionally.

Fast forward to 19, when Lia’s fitness career really took off. She continued to work as a group fitness instructor, leading classes and inspiring others to achieve their fitness goals.

Lia’s journey has been a long and winding road, but she has always had a perseverance attitude, turning every “no” into a “yes”, and never giving up on her dreams.

Lia’s story is a testament to the power of determination and the importance of following your passions, no matter what obstacles may come your way. She is a true inspiration to those who have faced challenges in their lives, and she is a shining example of what can be achieved with hard work and a never-say-die attitude.
