People who shouldn't be around young adults are "educating" them. Are professors required to trade in honesty/common sense for that final diploma?

I came across a really bad academic article; it was pretty disturbing. Then I read another from the same author, and more from other professors at the same university. Have they forgotten the internet audience is much larger than the classroom? Is it wrong to be upset that some of the most educated experts aren't very good within their own fields? For me, I think half of it is seeing this same problem coming from the media and government. This isn't progress, just a decade we tried to "do better" now we're trying to "do outlandish" even if it's full-nutter.
