Coding Black Females is a nonprofit organisation that aims to provide opportunities for Black female developers through meetups, events, and more. The organisation has partnered with companies such as Monzo, Conde Nast, BBC and more.
In this long and exciting chat, Charlene tells us about managing the organisation during this coronavirus pandemic, her love for Maths and Computer Science, and how she started Coding Black Females. Charlene was exposed to tech from a very young age, coming from a family filled with techies and playing with the BBC Micro computer at school. She tells us about this remarkable experience. We also discuss the systemic racism and biases that exist within the tech industry and how we can encourage more black kids to get into tech.
