We are back! On our first episode of 2023, we are bringing the audio from our very first YouTube Live! This year, we are experimenting with a different format for previewing draws. Moving forward, all draw discussion episodes will be recorded live on YouTube and delivered to our Podcast feed the next day. Keep an eye out for our next YouTube live the week of March 20-26, when we will preview the draw for the Masters 1000 event in Miami!
We begin the show discussing the results from the Australian Open, where Aryna Sabalenka won her first grandslam title over Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, and Novak Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas to win his 22nd grandslam, equaling Rafael Nadal's record and extending his own record in Australia to 10.
We also talk about the most important highlights post-Australian Open, including the return of Carlos Alcaraz after dealing with injuries the last few months, Iga Swiatek's dominant run of matches that led to 1 title and 1 runner up showing and the return to dominance from Daniil Medvedev winning 3 straight titles, which included an impressive win over Novak Djokovic.
Finally, we preview the draw for the first ATP and second WTA Masters 1000 event of the year in Indian Wells! We go quarter by quarter discussing the most notable match-ups, and we give our predictions from the quarterfinals onwards (spoiler alert, one of Carlos' predictions has already gone horribly wrong 😂).
At the end of the show, we also do some Indian Wells related Trivia! Listen to the end to see if you can get the right answer before our host Jishnu does!
