Our first poem is titled
ONE SUNDAY IN CHURCH
Let the little children dance to the Lord,
And in doing so find the lost chord.
May they dance a song of joy
With love for God’s baby boy.
The congregation will sing
And the children will bring
The pleasure of their smile,
Leading us through our miles.
May we all be that child
Whose heart is so mild,
That we will sing and dance
When given the chance.
Yes, the children will teach us
To be happy with Jesus
As we sing and pray
Each and every day.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me
and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the
kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:14 ESV)

Discussion:
The church I attend has chairs instead of pews and the music is mostly songs written
more recently than the hymns Dave and I were raised singing. I have seen some of the younger children dancing as the songs are sung. They have big smiles on their faces and some times the mothers join them. After seeing this, the dancing and the smiles on the girls and mothers faces I was moved to write the poem. I never thought this was inappropriate, but I realized that Sunday the children were dancing for God, for Jesus, and as they grow older that joy of dancing will follow them in their faith and the joy of celebrating the birth of God’s Son, our Savior, Jesus. I then knew that they were experiencing worship more deeply than I did as a child when I had a coloring book and crayons, and sat on the kneeler with my coloring book on the pew. I was, for the most part, unaware of my surroundings. So, yes, let the children dance to God, to Jesus as we sing our songs of worship.
I made a card with the poem to give to the mother’s of 2 of the girls. My 7 year old granddaughter, Aria, drew the picture.
The next poem is from God’s Rhyme, page 134. It was written in 1984 and was our Christmas card that year.
THE WONDER OF CHRSTMAS (GOD'S GIFT)
Oh let us sing today
Filling our hearts with joy
The Prince of Peace has come
With the birth of this baby boy
For to us a child is born
To us a Son is given
And His name will be called
Wonderful Counselor
Mighty God
Everlasting Father
Prince of Peace
Sing with a joyful noise
So those around can hear
As our hearts now rejoice
In our Almighty God today
Father everlasting
In the birth of Your Son
We find the true reason
We do celebrate this season
Wonderful Counselor
The Messiah from birth
God’s gift to us on earth
May we return His love with joy
For to us a child is born
To us a Son is given
And His name will be called
Wonderful Counselor
Mighty God
Everlasting Father
Prince of Peace

Discussion:
May we fold our hands and pray,
Pray that all God gives
in the lives that we live,
we will receive,
as we believe
that His Son was sent for us,
(His Son, the man we knew as)
the man we know as Jesus
was sent to save our souls,
save us from sin,
lived among us without sin.
And that sometimes I imagine, or I can't imagine sometimes, what type of temptation he faced. But knowing the hatred people had for Him, I can still know.
(That) I have the faith in God, His Father that He had some measure of it, faith, to lift me up this holiday season and focus on Him. It is only through Him that we are able to find eternal joy and that eternal joy that was born in the form of that baby boy. That baby boy who was God's joy to give to us. And I just pray that we can this holiday season, uh, keep that in mind and hopefully make Him the focus of all we are, of all we desire and all we do.
AS WE CLOSE IN PRAYER, MAY WE CONTINUE IN PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father we come to you in prayer as we end today’s podcast. Dave and I thank You for leading us through the day and into tomorrow. We thank You for all you have led us to and through.
We pray for our listeners and viewers; for their needs, healing and the salvation of those who have not yet accepted the gift of Your grace by faith.
We pray, Lord, for this world in which we live. Father, as Christians lead us to proclaiming the gospel where ever we are. May we do so in a loving way. Lead us to the truth of the days we are living in.
Dear Lord, prepare us and our listeners and viewers for the coming week. We pray that it is You we live for and You who leads us. As we walk with you this week, may it be Your hand clasped around our hand so we may feel the grasp of Your love.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer.
Amen
