The Leagues Cup is an annual tournament that hosts North American soccer teams, specifically teams from Major League Soccer and Liga MX. The first Leagues Cup was in 2019 (Winning Team: Cruz Azul) and the second occurred in 2021 (Winning Team: Leon).

This year’s Leagues Cup Final was the first Leagues Cup Final that featured two Major League Soccer opponents: Inter Miami CF vs. Nashville SC. There was some noteworthy criticism that was addressed by the Inter Miami Coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino via press conference. All of the matches were hosted in the United States and Canada. The Mexican teams did travel more and face potentially more challenging logistics.
