Marietta Considers Downtown Branded Banners

The Marietta City Council advanced a proposal to install branded light post banners in Marietta Square. The council unanimously voted to place the proposal from Visit Marietta on the consent agenda for Wednesday night's meeting.

Brittney Gray, Visit Marietta's executive director, presented the idea following the organization’s recent rebrand—its first in six years, designed to adapt to post-pandemic tourism. The new look includes a refreshed website and billboards across metro Atlanta.

The banners, featuring the tagline "Meet me on the Square," aim to build local pride and boost tourism awareness. Mayor Steve Tumlin noted the square-shaped banners would reflect Marietta Square's layout.

Seventeen potential locations have been identified for the banners, which will be navy blue, purple, and orange. The council will decide on their placement and duration, with Visit Marietta covering all expenses. Gray hopes the campaign will extend through January and include future co-branding opportunities with local events.
