Edge Biometrics is the combination of edge devices, AI, and biometrics to implement AI security monitoring systems. The idea of edge AI is to deploy artificial intelligence applications right on the device, closer to the user. This provides a number of advantages such as reduced latency and power consumption. Edge device can operate even in case of connection shut down, as data can be stored in device’s internal storage. The system becomes portable, since the device can be easily moved from one location to another. The main idea behind the project was to authenticate employees at the office entrance with just a glance in the camera.
