The Red Sox were unable to finish off the series sweep and dropped a 6-1 decision in the finale against the Blue Jays Wednesday night at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Loss snapped the Red Sox win streak at 4 in a row. They never won more than 4 straight after the All-Star Break. Sox took 2 of 3 in the Series, but failed to finish off a series sweep for the 4th time since the All-Star Break.

On the Board 1st: Just like he did Tuesday night, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. helped get the Blue Jays on the board 1st in the Series Finale Wednesday night. Guerrero led off the Home 4th Inning with a Double and scored on a Double from Alejandro Kirk to put the Jays up, 1-0. Kirk scored on an RBI Single from Ernie Clement to make it 2-0. Kirk knocked in 2 more runs and made it 4-0 with a 2-out, 2-run Single in the 5th Inning. Kirk was cut down at 2nd trying to stretch his Single into a Double, but he was thrown out at 2nd by right-fielder Wilyer Abreu.

Fitts On the Hill: Richard Fitts made his 4th start for the Red Sox in the Series Finale. Fitts did not allow a run over the 1st 3 Innings of work. He finally allowed his 1st Earned Run in the Big Leagues in the 4th Inning on Kirk's RBI Double. He worked 18.2 Innings without allowing an Earned Run to start his Big League Career. He left trailing 4-0 and ended up taking the loss. Sox winless in his 1st 4 Big League Outings.

Sox On the Board: Red Sox got on the board against Blue Jays Starter Kevin Gausman in the Top of the 6th Inning. Jarren Duran led off with a Double, his 48th of the season, and he scored on an RBI Single from Triston Casas. Tyler O'Neill was up with 2 on and he hit into a 6-4-5 Double Play. The Sox hit into their 2nd Double Play in 2 Innings in the 7th. Connor Wong reached with a leadoff Single and was erased when pinch-hitter Vaughn Grissom hit into a 1-4-3 twin-killing. ​

Streak Over: Sox Pitching Staff entered Wednesday having gone a season-high 7 straight games without allowing a Home Run. That ended when Josh Winckowski gave up a 2-run Home Run to Jonatan Clase in the Botton of the 7th Inning and that made it, 6-1. It was the 1st Big League round-tripper for Clase and the 10th Home Run allowed this season by Winckowski.

Slumping at the Dish: Tyler O'Neill went 0-for-4 with 2 Strikeouts Wednesday night. O'Neill is hitless in his last 24 at-bats and is 1-for-33.

A Look Ahead: The Red Sox head home to Boston and have their final off day of the Regular Season on Thursday. The Red Sox open up a 3-Game Series against the Tampa Bay Rays Friday night at Fenway Park.
