The Philadelphia Phillies lost to the New York Mets, 2-1 Sunday night as they WASTE a 7 inning, 2-run performance from ace, Zack Wheeler. The loss marks the second time in less than a week that the Philadelphia Phillies squandered a great 7-inning performance from their starting pitcher.

Wheeler struck out 8 over his 7 innings allowing 7 hits with 1 walk. His one BIG mistake came when the score was tied at 1 in the 6th inning when Brandon Nimmo lead off the frame by jumping on a first pitch fastball and smacking it just hard enough to clear the wall in right field by about a foot.

The Phillies’ offense struggled for the second straight night, coming up with just 5 hits. Their lone run came in the 1st inning on an Alec Bohm RBI single. In total, the Phils went 1-9 with runners in scoring position.

Mets starter Tylor Mcgill lasted just 4 innings as the Phils were able to run his pitch count up to 83 pitches. Then the Mets’ bullpen slammed the door on any Phillies changes. They gave up just 1 hit over 5 innings.
