The San Diego Padres scored four runs in the tenth inning, snapping a 2-2 tie after coming back from a 2-0 deficit, to win game one of three at Loan Depot Park in Miami.

Jake Cronenworth's RBI groundout in the tenth inning gave the Padres the lead, then Manny Machado's two-run double and Jackson Merrill's single made it 6-2.

Jake Burger and Jonah Bride hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to give Miami the lead. The red-hot Burger (2-4) has the most home runs in MLB since July 1st with 13, and ten since the all-star break. Bride has hit four homers in ten games.

Miami Starter Edward Cabrera pitched great early, tossing seven shutout innings, striking out four., in his longest outing of the season and the first quality start for a Miami pitcher almost six weeks.

Jackson Merrill ripped a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game. The rookie sensation had two hits, as did Jurickson Profar.

Manny Machado ripped an RBI double to cut the lead in half. Machado has been red-hot (OPS .900+ with five home runs) since the break.

Former Marlin Luis Arraez went 1-5 with a single in his first trip back to Loan Depot Park since being traded to the Padres earlier this season.

Tanner Scott, another former Marlin and the team's lone all-star this season, pitched the bottom of the ninth.

The Marlins and Padres play the second of their three-game series tomorrow at Loan Depot Park. First pitch is at 4:10pm ET, with Miami's Roddery Munoz (2-6, 5.68) facing San Diego's Matt Waldron. (7-9, 3.79)
