The 76ers season came to a close Thursday night with a 118 to 115 game six loss to the New York Knicks. New York opened a 22 point lead in the first quarter but the Sixers were able to rally thanks to 5 threes in the second quarter from Buddy Hield. Philly would go into halftime with a 54-51 lead.

Then Knicks would slowly but surely take control in the second half. Jalen Brunson continued his dominant play scoring 14 of his game-high 41 points in the 4th quarter.

The 76ers stayed in the game through the second half, but the dagger play came with :25 left in regulation. After Tyrese Maxey converted an And-1 play on the Sixers’ end, the Knicks Josh Hart took advantage of a Sixers defensive breakdown. Nico Batum and Kelly Oubre got caught up in a bad switch, leaving Hart WIDE OPEN at the top of the key where he would drain a 3-pointer to give the Knicks a114-111 lead and the Sixers were unable to recover after that.

Joel Embiid scored 39 points before fouling out in the final seconds of the game. Tyrese Maxey scored 10 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter. Buddy Hield finished with 20 points.
