Malaysia's Miss Universe says black people should 'relax' - Last week Malaysia’s Former Miss Universe Samantha Kayty posted an Instagram story about George Flloyd saying that ‘black people should relax’ - https://twitter.com/lilasianthiccie/status/1267347193582612480/photo/1 - To Black People, relax. Take it as a challenge, makes you stronger. You chose to be born as a ‘coloured’ person in America for a reason. To learn a certain lesson. Accept it as it is, till now hunger and poverty still exist. It is what it is.It’s evitable . Best you can do is remain calm , protect your heart and don’t allow it to crumble. That’s your responsibility. Of course this is to the ones who understand this level and state of mind. Not for everyone. Everyone grows at a different rate. The Asian Black Problem - We need to talk about how what’s happening right now isn’t a white vs black thing, we need to take a hard look at ourselves as well and realise that we have a black problem in Asia and Asian culture - A lot of us who are children of immigrants have a trouble communicating with our parents because of our broken mother tongue but there’s been a movement to start a conversation with Asian parents by sending them translated open letters why BLM is important to talk about - We’ve talked a lot about the racism Asians around the world were facing during this pandemic. If we thought that was bad, imagine what it’d be like to be a black person fearing for your life every time you leave your house because you’re scared of being pulled over by the police and getting shot - A McDonald’s in China bans black people during coronavirus - So many examples of blackfacing in mainstream media in China e.g. impersonating an African woman on national TV - KPOP - Yoon-mirae who is a respected rapper andis bi-racial has spoken about the racism discrimination she’s faced in Korea - Kiya interview with Asian Boss: backhanded compliments: “You’re pretty for a black person “ “You’re different to other black people because you’re skinny” - Beauty standards -> TONYA TKO - https://www.facebook.com/melanie.glico/posts/10156779441516534 - Cambodia: Chinese or fair skin people are seen as more important, if you’re darker, they call you ‘ah kmao’ which literally means black person in a degrading way - What do you think needs to happen for the world as a society to change?
