They seem to be upset when conservatives describe our country as being a constitutional republic as opposed to a democracy. They’d like to think that there’s some deep conspiracy behind the use of the word ‘republic’. They forget that Ben Franklin described this little experiment that we call the United States as being a ‘republic’. He should know. He was there at its founding. And is there a difference?
