In the judgment giving directions to reform the process of appointment of Election Commissioners, the Supreme Court has observed that the process of appointment of Arun Goel as an Election Commissioner "throws up certain pertinent questions". Time and again, there have been questions around certain Civil servants acting in the unterest of party in power. In turn, the Civil servants are bestowed with plum postings.
