Manage episode 346157590 series 3280104
In 1910, illustrious and ambitious jewellery dealer Pierre Cartier made a gamble on a diamond that could have put the world-famous Cartier jewellery brand in danger of bankruptcy. Cartier wanted to continue the family tradition of offering only the best and largest diamonds to the most exclusive and wealthy customers, but with a background history as tormented and bloody as the stone he was determined to buy, who would take the chance on purchasing such an item? Throughout its troubled existence since it's discovery, this particular diamond had garnered a reputation of being cursed...but surely that was just a myth...wasn't it???
