S1-E16 One of the pleasant surprises I have experienced as host of the Going Boldly podcast is the extent to which our guests are willing to reveal themselves as they share their life experiences, insights and advice with our listeners. Michael Brunker is no exception. His was a beginning that except for a stroke of luck, (or divine intervention), would have kept him on a path without much opportunity. But a path to college and beyond saw him as an assistant coach for college basketball and for the Detroit Pistons. He has been the Executive Director and the V.P. for Mission Advancement of the mammoth Jackie Robinson Family YMCA in San Diego, even named as Mr. San Diego.
Michael’s friends and close supporters include Dick Vitale, (yes, That Dick Vitale of ESPN), Ken Blanchard, Dick Lane and many others.
If you can use a role model and an example of how to live a life of service, you will find much to keep your attention. Michael demonstrates his values and commitment to others through his actions and life choices, not the least of which is in his current role as CEO of The Third Option City. Based on the teachings and the book by Miles McPherson, pastor of the Rock Church in San Diego and former San Diego Chargers Cornerback.
The Third Option City is a movement that is healing racial divides as it promotes and educates us to honor what we have in common- our similarities, while we celebrate our diversity. Michael explains more including mentioning some famous people in our history who embodied these values in their lives and in their communities.
