The Space Race is on! Wernher von Braun and the U.S. Space Program compete against Sergei Korolev and his team in the Soviet Union to win dominance in space throughout 1958. The Soviets went into this year with a huge lead, but the Americans aren't out yet. This year would see triumphs and failures on both sides as well as one of the most significant developments of the era: the formation of NASA.
