Looking around any Eurovision Song Contest press centre in the last two decades, you’ll likely spot a baseball hat with the word “Boy” written in comically large letters. Under that hat is Aftonbladet journalist Tobbe Ek.

A graduate of Stockholm University, he joined Aftonbladet in 2005. While he is now known for his entertainment reporting, many more roles, desks, and assignments led him to Melodifestivalen and Eurovision. The business of journalism has evolved since Ek left the University and continues to do so. From running Aftonbladet’s first blog to putting content behind paywalls, Ek has been at the cutting edge of experimentation while bringing a lightness of touch the public has grown to love.

Eurovision Chat Over Coffee, with Aftonbladet’s Tobbe Ek

Aftonbladet’s self-proclaimed Boy, Tobbe Ek, sits down with Ewan Spence to talk about covering Melodifestivalen and Eurovision for a living, how he started out on his rewarding journalistic career, why he never became an actor, and more…
